RDC CloudRelational Database

What is Relational Database?

Run PostgreSQL for structured application data.

RDC Cloud Relational Database provides PostgreSQL instances within your project. Choose a region, version, and plan, then connect applications through the private project network or an optional external TLS endpoint.

Console navigation

Open a database to use its sidebar: Overview, Connectivity, Connection, Database accounts, Firewall Policy, Backups, Import data, and Danger Zone. Available sections follow your project permissions. The Overview page contains status, resource details, network metrics, and start/stop/restart actions. Backups use the same sidebar.

Connections and accounts

Private connections require an application on the same server and project network. External connections use a managed hostname and require TLS with SNI. Keep the database private when external access is unnecessary.

New databases receive a random customer account during provisioning. Retrieve its credentials from Connection in the Console. Every customer account has database-management access, including schema changes, without PostgreSQL server-administrator privileges.

Get started

Create a database, connect to it, and manage application accounts.

For existing data, see Import from PostgreSQL. See PostgreSQL backups to create manual backups or configure a schedule. Automatic backups support daily or weekly schedules and retain the latest seven successful automatic backups. Manual backups are excluded from this retention policy. The current Console does not provide point-in-time recovery or a restore action.

Use Security Insights to review missing IP allowlists and unrestricted firewall rules across the selected project.

Database metrics

Open Overview to view CPU, memory, connections, database size and network history. Choose 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours or 7 days and use Refresh to load the latest observations. Database metrics require permission to read the database instance.

Observations are collected every minute and kept for seven days. The first CPU point needs two consecutive observations. Gaps are shown when a database is stopped, collection fails, or CPU counters reset. A stale-data message appears when the latest available compute or database observation is more than three minutes old.

CPU usage is relative to the container's allocated cores. Memory excludes reclaimable cache and uses the actual container memory limit. Connections count PostgreSQL client sessions, excluding the metrics collector, against max_connections; the limit includes reserved connections and is not a guarantee that all remaining slots are available to customer accounts.

Database size measures the managed database's tables, indexes and other database files. It does not measure WAL, backups or the entire persistent volume, and it is not an enforced disk quota. You do not need to enable public connectivity or change Firewall policy to view these metrics.

Product navigation

The sidebar keeps Getting started and the resource list available. Opening the product first checks the selected project. A successful, complete empty result opens Getting started; existing resources open the list. Errors and loading states stay in place. Selecting the list explicitly keeps it open even when it is empty.

Lists and resource details use the available workspace width. Getting started links to the existing creation or management flow and documentation; existing permissions still apply.
